After your thermal management solution has been created from concept, customised to meet your needs and completed prototype development, Thermacore can perform qualification testing such as thermal shock, thermal cycling (freeze/thaw), shock and vibration and environmental salt/fog and corrosion prior to full scale manufacturing.
Thermal Lab and Calorimeter/Test Cells
Quantifying the performance of cooling devices, the Thermal Lab evaluates parts on their ability to meet the specifications required. Efficiency of the component can be checked before and after an event, such as a structural test or a life test, to see whether there is any degradation in performance. Calorimeters or Test Cells create a stable environment with a variety of moving gases and fluids. A component’s thermal efficiency can be tested with controlled temperature, pressure and flow levels.
Temperature Shock and Cycling Testing
Subjecting a product to alternating extremes of high and low temperatures, Thermal Shock and Cycle testing observes changes in product characteristics and failure occurrence caused by different materials and their thermal expansion coefficients.
Life and Reliability Testing
Thermacore has been performing heat pipe and loop heat pipe life testing on a variety of material systems and heat rejection conditions since 1970 — over 40 years. Material systems and heat rejection conditions include copper-water, copper-water sintered powder, copper-methanol, aluminium-ammonia, inconel-sodium, natural connexion, forced convection and liquid cooling.
With over 300,000 hours of life of continuous, ongoing life testing on copper-water-sintered power heat pipe systems, we have developed a proven set of manufacturing processes that control product life and reliability. No other heat pipe manufacturer can make this claim. We stand behind our products and manufacturing processes. In addition to the rigorous life and reliability testing Thermacore performs on heat pipe systems, Thermacore is also performing life testing on single phase, pumped liquid systems.

Thermacore is committed to continuous improvement and its Lancaster facility is AS 9100 certified. We’re also certified to both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
As part of our commitment to quality assurance, Thermacore utilises Statistical Process Control (SPC), lean manufacturing techniques and the latest measurement equipment, such as CMMs and optical comparators in our manufacturing processes. Thermacore routinely manufacturers products that meet the European Union RoHS Compliance requirements.
